Watersports and Related Activities

All Tours are done in air-conditioned vehicles, with permits and passenger liability.

English, registered and THETA accredited or similar tour guides

Dolphin Viewing - PE Beachfront and Sundowner Cruises
See cape fur seals, numerous sea birds, Cape Receife Lighthouse and surrounding shipwrecks and sometimes even whales and dolphins. Proceeds go to furthering marine conservation. Includes pick up and drop off at your hostel.

Penguin Island Cruises
Visit the St Croix Island Marine Reserve and see the largest breeding colony of the African Penguins. Also visit other Islands, an abalone farm, the new Coega development and maybe see whales, dolphins, seals, sharks and sea birds en route. Proceeds go to furthering marine conservation. Includes pick up and drop off at your hostel.

Sea Safari-Whales and Dolphins

Visit the St Croix Island Marine Reserve and see the largest breeding colony of the African Penguins. Visit the other Islands & see the new Coega development. Whales, dolphins, seals, sharks and sea birds abound en route. Proceeds go to furthering marine conservation. All year round the bay is home to large schools of dolphins, brydes and minkie whales. While in season the southern right whale visits our bay. Includes pick up and drop off at your hostel.

Sailing
When you are tired of the adrenaline sports and all you would like to do is see dolphins, gamboling in the waves, seals barking and the odd penguin investigating your boat, with a whale or two in season. Then sailing in the world famous Algoa Bay is going to be just for you. Most of the yachts are catamarans of a fair size. You can be hands on or just help out. Meals can be arranged for the longer trips. Includes pick up and drop off at your hostel and a picnic lunch.

Diving and Dive Courses
Prices vary from a boat dive at R75-00, full gear hire at R170-00 and courses from R799-00 incl diving gear hire. Both NAUI and PADI courses offered. Classified as the cheapest dive courses in the world by International PADI instructors yet offering a very high quality. Other dive courses are available. Algoa Bay is renowned for it’s many shipwrecks from the 17th Century to fairly more modern steamers. This coupled with the many reefs the alternatives of diving in sheltered waters or on the wild side, offers dives which are ideal for the novice or for the more adventurous or experienced diver.

Surfing
Beginners
Yes you can learn to surf. It is not only for a gifted few.

(includes board, wet suit and 1 ½ hour lesson, pick up and drop off at your hostel)

Experienced Surfers
Includes transport to Jeffrey’s bay, lunch, pick up and drop off at your hostel
